Human Waste Issues

As populations grow, human waste is an increasing issue in the community adding bacteria and nutrients to the environment. Contamination may come from leaking wastewater treatment plants, septic systems, or from the growing population visiting wilderness locations.

When in areas without restrooms, be sure to follow Leave No Trace practices to reduce impact on the water quality, environment and limit spread of diseases. ​
